Over the last 6 months I have re written almost my entire back catalogue. It's taken me several hundreds of hours. I used my MIDI keyboard to painstakingly play out what I have in my head...hence why it's taken so long! I then edit all the little midi notes and depending on what instrument I want to play that part, add the plug ins and begin to manipulate the sound until it hopefully gets to where I want it to be.
I also use loops and samples and on a few tracks I've mixed in some well known covers that sit with songs I've written and give them an added twist which I think is fun. I hope people will enjoy those.
Think Grimes meets St Vincent!
In time I'd like to develop something closer to a multi media experience to include visual images, lighting, sound bites and other stimulus hopefully creating food for thought that supports the themes and ideas I write about. I write because I have a lot of shit I need to get out of my system, amongst other things. The Little Red persona is I hope more fun for an audience than listening to someone in a paisley dress whinge on about a broken heart or how shit everything is. My background as a professional actress took me from West End musicals to film and TV in Hollywood, so it makes sense for me to work through the medium I know best.
I've added updated versions of Something's Got To Give, the first track I ever wrote in LA in 2010, with the original 1st verse restored. I re mixed my original stems, with thanks to Mark Peckham and Billy Demartines for those and also to Nate Kohrs for the updated production. Run Away and The Sun Will Rise were remixed and mastered by me with original production by Jouko Lavonen. Let It Loose, I have completely reworked, sampling Lana Del Ray's "Doin' Time" and The B'All has been reworked around the drum part from The SugarBabes "Freak like Me".
