To celebrate International Woman’s Day and Women’s History Month in the US, Lille Røde
released a brand new video to accompany the beautiful Eastern inspired track, There. It speaks of both the naivety and strength of women, failing to navigate a man’s world, falling hard but finally trusting in themselves.
“It’s one of my emotionally heavier songs but I think it’s uplifting. It’s dedicated to women everywhere who suffer in myriad ways but especially to Farkhunda Malikzada, an Afghan woman who in March 2015, was beaten and burned alive in Kabul by a mob of angry men. Hundreds watched while dozens participated. The mob’s outrage was triggered by a false rumour that she had blasphemed the Prophet Muhammad. I find
this impossible to process but I’d like to offer There as a tribute”.
