Mission Statement //
Following a career in British film, television, theatre and music, a still young enough woman wanted to pursue her childhood dream to live and work in Los Angeles.
So, that's what she did. She took her basket of wears, left everything famliar behind and set off
into the woods.
The USA was a HUGE culture shock and she soon realized life was no fairy story, even in Hollywood.
So many wolves lurking in so many guises, in the food and politics, in religion and law enforcement, in all kinds of relationships, even on FaceBook!
The world around her felt increasingly difficult to relate to as it seemed she had completely misread the stories from her youth promising a hopeful, happy future. So, she created the perfect vehicle... Lille Røde, the Danish for Little Red. As a fan of Nordic Noir and having once unsuccessfully married a Scandinavian, this seemed a pertinent guise for hunting down wolves without getting arrested.
Lille Røde writes for a lost generation, brought up on Doris Day, Judy Garland, ET and Back to The Future ; )
Original music artist Lille Røde in her guise as Little Red toys with themes from heartbreak to gender politics with a wink and a wry smile. Indie pop/rock utilising jazz and blues bass lines, psychedelic guitar riffs and catchy vocal hooks. Intelligent songwriting with a theatrical twist. Like Sigrid meets Gwen Stefani via Sheryl Crow.
Frontwoman and songwriter Mountford taught herself to sing as a child referencing Garland, Streisand, Maria McKee, Joan Osbourne, Edie Reader and the music scene of the 80’s and 90’s as major influences. She fronted covers and original bands in and around London through the 90’s but began writing her own material in 2010 following a move to LA which she describes as a knee jerk response to the culture shock of living in Hollywood.
The Lille Røde Band consists of a delicious pack of wolves from the West Country!
Featuring Jim Scriven on Bass Guitar, Sasha Impey on Guitar and Chris Phillips on Drums.
Impey, Scriven and Mountford have been writing and producing new material together since 2019 with a little time off for Covid and wolf-pack training.
